Interra Systems and Pharos Partner to Enhance Content Management Workflows with QC

Interra's Baton® Automated Content Verification System Integrated with Pharos Mediator™ Platform to Ensure Content Quality

CUPERTINO, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE), December 15, 2009
Interra Systems, Inc, the industry leader in automated content verification with its Baton™ product and Pharos, an industry leader in File-based content preparation and distribution solutions with its Mediator platform, have entered into a formal partnership as part of Interra's Baton-Connect™ partnership program.

The Pharos Mediator® content management platform provides various workflows to improve efficiencies in content management, multi-channel broadcast and multi-platform distribution. Pharos has successfully integrated Interra's Baton with its Mediator 4 content management and workflow platform for several world-wide customers. The addition of Baton to Pharos solutions helps customers extend their workflow automation for content readiness content readiness and quality. As a result of the integration, Baton generates reports directly into user familiar Mediator environment thus improving productivity & throughput.

"The file based QC tools such as Interra's Baton have been one of the most significant recent technology advances and have dramatically increased content throughput," says Russell Grute, Director of Marketing at Pharos. "Our customers can automatically enforce QC specification for the content and metadata they receive from their customers and suppliers, without the need for manual checking. Interra Baton is an industry leader with its support for a wide range of formats, quality checks and metadata processing. Baton run times are very impressive and the integration of Baton QC metadata with Mediator workflow makes it easy to trace quality problems systematically. The Baton software scales cost effectively on standard high performance IT and we also use Baton integrated with the Omneon Media Grid."

File-based workflows and QC have become a tightly coupled business challenge for broadcasters and studios as they transition from legacy tape-based flows. As the content moves from supplier to consumer at each stage of the content lifecycle, there are many content transformations that can negatively impact the content quality & readiness. These transformations include Transcoding, Ingest, Edit and Play-out workflows. A broad-based QC product becomes a backbone to ensure visibility & traceability to content quality across these diverse workflows. It is also critical that the QC product be an independent entity from other tools in the workflow (such as Transcoders) in order to ensure objective assessment of content quality & readiness.

"We are pleased to partner with Pharos as part of our Baton-Connect program and look forward to building on the momentum already in place with our mutual customer success," said Krishna Uppuluri, Vice President of Marketing at Interra Systems. "Pharos Mediator is a leading platform that provides multiple workflows across content lifecycle and the benefits of improved productivity & throughput. The addition of Baton to the Pharos Mediator workflows has already helped our mutual customers with improved content readiness and quality. Together, we can continue to offer a complete range of solutions for content management & distribution for global media companies to achieve greater productivity, throughput and content quality."
