AmberFin & Interra Systems Partnership Delivers Value to Users of File-based Quality Control in Content Ingest and Transcoding Operations

IBC 2012
07-11 September 2012
RAI, Amsterdam

Amsterdam, September 07 2012 – At IBC 2012, AmberFin and Interra Systems have announced the successful conclusion of a co-operative development project that will add value to customers of both companies. The project sees the integration of Interra Systems' market leading, enterprise class file based QC solution BatonTM within the AmberFin’s iCR Unified Quality Control (UQC) platform for content ingest and transcoding operations.

In today’s market, UQC represents a unique approach to file-based media quality control since it combines multiple tools for baseband checks during tape ingest, file-based QC after ingest, and overall operator-controlled QC, including annotation and mark-up. Already incorporating many of the market’s established third-party QC solutions, the addition of Interra Baton is strategically important to AmberFin since it provides end users with a single integrated QC platform, which features the market’s leading QC solution and provides extensive flexibility and re-assurance.

Interra System’s Baton is a leading enterprise class, automated file-based QC software solution with an extensive installed base amongst global broadcasters, post production houses, IPTV, satellite and archiving companies. Its integration within AmberFin iCR provides the widest choice for users to integrate UQC seamlessly within their existing workflows more easily. “Our aim is always to deliver value to our customers and we believe that this project aimed at integrating Baton with AmberFin’s UQC platform achieves this goal,” said Ashish Basu, Vice President of Global Sales & Business Development at Interra Systems. “It’s great when a plan comes together and our two teams have worked together closely over recent months to ensure a great result. We believe this combination of products and technologies will prove very popular in this dynamic market.”

UQC celebrates successful first year
For AmberFin, this project tops off a remarkably successful first year in the commercial development of UQC. The company’s Chief Technology Officer, Bruce Devlin, sees great potential for this sophisticated QC platform.

“We launched UQC at IBC last year and it has been a very busy and exciting first year in its evolution. The concept of UQC has proved very popular in a market that is struggling to come to terms with the special needs for quality control within a file-based environment,” explains Devlin. “The integration of Baton is important since it is one of the market’s leading QC solutions. What UQC offers is an intuitive and vendor agnostic QC solution with the widest range of QC tools, all presented on a single user interface and timeline.”
